Jo Sherman

Jo is founder and CEO of EDT, a company that develops case management software for litigation, investigations and e-discovery (www.discoverEDT.com). Since 2002, EDT software has been embraced by an international client base of GLOBAL100 and magic circle law firms, fortune 20 corporations, government agencies, forensic experts and consulting service providers. Jo has leveraged a law degree and a computer science major to apply technology to law in the international context. Over the last 25 years, she has held managing director and CEO roles in three legal technology companies she founded. Jo has also been engaged as a court registrar, a technology strategist, a legal business analyst, a software architect, a justice department information governance director and a law society CIO. She has been engaged as a strategic technology adviser and consultant to international law firms, courts and justice agencies. Her consulting clients include the Canadian Judicial Council, the Federal Court of Australia, the Queensland Courts, the Victorian Courts, the Ministry of Justice in Alberta, Canada, the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General and the Council of Chief Justices of Australia and New Zealand and direct engagements with three Chief Justices of Commonwealth jurisdictions. She is a member of the Data Law / Information Governance Board of Advisors for the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York In 2017 Jo established EDT’s AI Lab to develop machine learning and natural language processing utilities for law. This is now her primary focus. Jo is also an accomplished public speaker who presents regularly in the international justice technology arena. She was a finalist in the Telstra business woman of the year awards in Australia. Jo is a competitive marathon runner. Her personal best time is 3 hours.
